Roxana Da Costa
Founder/Owner/President

Roxana is a natural leader who has earned the respect and support of hundreds of professionals in the industry, both locally and globally throughout the Aveda network and the network of salons and Spa’s in Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Her career began in 1994 while attending the Esthiology program at the Aveda Institute Victoria. Her commitment, passion and dedication for the industry became Da Costa’s most valuable strengths as an educator and mentor. Over the last 23 years since her graduation from the program, she has served several key roles including Vice President of Operations and Senior Educational Administrator, and as founding owner of Kazen hair & beauty salon in Victoria, BC. Roxana’s newest venture is owning and running the operations of One House distribution Inc. for Easydry Canada; an environmentally intelligent next generation textile company.

Amongst her many accomplishments, she is most proud of receiving the Aveda Spa 2004 Healing Touch Award presented at Congress for her excellence in advancing Aveda sales and education. In 2009, Roxana was also inducted as an honoree into the Aveda Institutes Alumni Hall of fame.

She brings an extensive instructional, technical and business background through Aveda Corporation and has also completed her studies in Business Administration from the University of Victoria. She offers a well-rounded approach to teaching, coaching and mentoring and has a fine knowledge and extensive experience in all areas of customer service; these are the key ingredients to her success as a woman in business.


Alissa Fougere
Lead Artist/Co-Owner

Alissa Fougere… naturally at your service.

Growing up with a family of hairdressers, Alissa was always inspired by the beauty her family created.  Alissa began her career in the beauty industry in 2007, when she decided to follow her passion.  She completed her Cosmetology training through VIU, and then moved on to complete the 10 month training program at the prestigious and internationally acclaimed Aveda Institute Victoria.  After graduating with a double diploma, Alissa was hired on to complete another 6 months of advanced training with Aveda.

In 2011, Alissa embarked on an exciting path and became the co-owner of Kazen Hair and Beauty.  Now, after almost 9 years in the industry, Alissa is as inspired as ever.  Always upgrading her education and advancing her knowledge in all aspects of hair.

Samantha Lavoie
Salon Level Stylist/Makeup Artist

Meet Samantha Lavoie… Creatively at your service.

Samantha started her journey with the beauty industry in 2014 by enrolling and completing the cosmetology program at the internationally acclaimed Aveda Institute Victoria. After completing the program she continued on into the Advanced Academy program at the Paul Da Costa Salon where her education continued.  Learning more advanced cutting and coloring techniques, her skills began to grow and shine. Before starting at the Aveda Institute, Samantha already had a passion for making things beautiful with cake decorating and a strong desire to learn more about makeup artistry. During her time at the Aveda Institute her love for makeup blossomed as well as a love for elegant up dos and specialty sets.

In 2015, Samantha joined our team at Kazen.  She has developed her skills through cutting, hair color, hair design and makeup.  While Samantha is diverse in all aspects of hair and makeup, her passion lies in the art of hair coloring.


Danielle Noyes
Salon Stylist

Meet Danielle Noyes… Enthusiastically at your service.

Danielle’s journey into the beauty industry was inspired through her passion for the arts. From an early age, Danielle grew up experimenting on her three sisters’ hair where she quickly discovered that she loved being hands on and creating her own masterpieces. Pursuing a career as a hair stylist was a natural step for Danielle. Her passion, enthusiasm and commitment to her craft is evident in the investments she has made to her education.
Following her graduation from the internationally acclaimed Aveda Institute Victoria in 2014, Danielle has already completed substantial additional advanced training; taught by renowned industry leaders, in colour, cutting, and balayage techniques.
Danielle brings a sense of adventure to her work at the salon, where she loves to see the change her work can have on guests and those whose hair she gets to touch.
Danielle’s specialties include Color lights, precise Cutting, Blow-drying, and Styling.

Katherine (Kat) Tarves
Lead Stylist & Makeup Artist

Meet Katherine (Kat) Tarves… Devotedly at your service.

Kat is a bright talent who brings almost 7 years of experience as a stylist and Make-up Artist. She graduated from her training program with honours and her ambitious and multi-talented personality and work ethics lead her to own a salon in Alberta. Kat has certifications from the Red Seal Program and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in business and marketing, it’s a certified extensionist and has worked with Western Canada Fashion Week. Her diverse training and experience includes renowned brands such us Schwarzkopf, Paul Mitchell, L’Oréal, Goldwell and Kevin Murphy.
Growing up, hair was always a passion of Kat. She loves having a career that is constantly evolving, gives her a daily outlet for her creative artistry, and enables her to meet new people and share her joy for making them feel beautiful. She believes that you can change a person’s life with a great haircut, and to see a guest leave with a smile on their face puts one on hers, too.
Kat is a well-rounded stylist whose love for color is evident to her guests and co-workers and she is not afraid to step outside the box and try new and cutting-edge techniques. She is dedicated to on-going attendance to industry education and keeping her skills fresh and current.
Kat is a genuine listener with great attention to details and joining the Kazen team is the perfect salon home for her.


Neesa Marie
Salon Stylist

Meet Neesa Marie… Creatively at your service.

Neesa graduated from the world-renowned Aveda Institute Victoria in 2014, at the top of her class. Her commitment and passion for her new-found love, took her to complete a post-graduate internship with the Paul Da Costa Salon and Academy, as well as advanced certifications in colour.
Neesa’s work as a stylist also includes supporting charities and events like Fashion Fights Cancer, as well as numerous other fashion shows, photo shoots, and weddings.
As a stylist, Neesa is committed to building an open and honest relationship with each of her guests to provide them with everything they need to leave feeling refreshed and confident. Excited to explore all the industry has to offer, she looks forward to continuing to learn and is working to become more involved with photoshoots, editorial work, and photography.
Now, after 4 years of inspiration and mentorship from some of the industry’s best, Neesa joins the Kazen family ready to embark in a new journey of continual improvement and ready to welcome her existing followers and new guests.
Her specialties include highlights, creative up styling, general styling, shorter textured cuts, balayage and long layered hair cuts.
Neesa loves working with a new canvas everyday, and she is ready to have fun with yours!


Melanie Titizian
Lead Stylist

Meet Melanie Titizian… Naturally at your service.

Melanie brings more than 5 years of experience as a creative stylist and has been an active member and contributor in the industry and in salons across Canada.
During her time as a student at the Aveda Institute Toronto, Melanie represented her program proudly as class ambassador. As an Aveda Institute graduate, she finds great passion and inspiration through on-going education and in serving as a coach and mentor to new comers in the industry.
Melanie feels privileged to have a career where she gets to use her creativity and empathy to create lasting connections with her guests. She loves what she does, and cares deeply about providing a service that enriches not just her guest’s hair, but their daily lives.
Inspired by the technical innovation and artistry of the brand, she’s proud to be associated with the best in the industry and joining the Kazen team was a natural choice for Melanie.
Melanie’s unique specialties include short trendy haircuts, men’s cutting, colour melting, balayage, and Ombre.


Laura Sleath
Lead Stylist

Meet Laura Sleath… Passionately at your service.

Laura graduated from the internationally acclaimed Aveda Institute Victoria in 2012. Since then, Laura has completed a substantial level of advanced training under the mentorship of Paul Da Costa and nationally and internationally renown leaders in the industry. Laura has made a name for herself as a respected stylist, coach, teacher and salon manager. In 2016, she became an Aveda Certified Educator; giving her the opportunity and platform to share in her passion and knowledge with other professionals in the network. She has also served as a part-time educator at the Institute, mentoring students in branding, colour, and other core stylist services.
Laura is truly passionate about watching talented young people become absolute rock stars at their profession and is always ready and eager to step in and do whatever is needed from her to see them succeed and reach their goals.
Equally passionate about her guests, Laura finds becoming someone’s confidante and actively participating in making them feel great about themselves to be a massively rewarding gift.
“As a stylist, I find it really fulfilling when I can pinpoint what a guest is looking for and deliver a result they can achieve at home and see ongoing benefit from. I want to give you wearable styles that work for your lifestyle, profession, and goals, and not necessarily just what’s on trend.”
Laura’s specialties include colour (specifically blondes), and corrective colour.


Amanda Catarino
Independant Stylist


The independent stylist is a contractor of Kazen hair & beauty and is not and shall not be deemed to be in a joint venture, partnership, or employee relationship. In that regard, the independent stylist and her clients shall be solely responsible for and agrees to save Dosha Beauty Inc. dba Kazen hair & beauty harmless from any and all loss, claims, damage and liability to any person or property occurring upon or about the Station (she provides services from) any cause whatsoever, including any claim regarding the services provided by the independent stylist.

Meet Amanda Catarino… Naturally at your service.

Amanda began her industry career in 2009 by enrolling at the Aveda Institute Victoria.  She graduated in 2010 to embark on her journey as a hairstylist.  With many talents up her sleeve already, Amanda then went on to do some more training with Vidal Sassoon.  Amanda fell in love with the art of cutting hair, but she can do it all!

In 2012, Amanda worked with a team for the annual Show Off charity hair show in Vancouver, BC.  Following that, Amanda placed top 10 in Canada while participating with a team for the all famous Contessa Awards!

Amanda loves to teach and share her knowledge about everything hair!  She is very excited to be Kazen’s salon coach to and continue to teach her fellow team mates, and take advanced training to stay current with the latest fashion and hair trends.  After working at a L’Oreal Professional salon for 4 years, she is excited to be back to her roots working with Aveda again, and to start her new journey!
