Roxana Da Costa

Roxana is a natural leader who has earned the respect and support of hundreds of professionals in the industry, both locally and globally throughout the Aveda network and the network of salons and Spa’s in Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Her career began in 1994 while attending the Esthiology program at the Aveda Institute Victoria. Her commitment, passion and dedication for the industry became Da Costa’s most valuable strengths as an educator and mentor. Over the last 23 years since her graduation from the program, she has served several key roles including Vice President of Operations and Senior Educational Administrator, and as founding owner of Kazen hair & beauty salon in Victoria, BC. Roxana’s newest venture is owning and running the operations of One House distribution Inc. for Easydry Canada; an environmentally intelligent next generation textile company.

Amongst her many accomplishments, she is most proud of receiving the Aveda Spa 2004 Healing Touch Award presented at Congress for her excellence in advancing Aveda sales and education. In 2009, Roxana was also inducted as an honoree into the Aveda Institutes Alumni Hall of fame.

She brings an extensive instructional, technical and business background through Aveda Corporation and has also completed her studies in Business Administration from the University of Victoria. She offers a well-rounded approach to teaching, coaching and mentoring and has a fine knowledge and extensive experience in all areas of customer service; these are the key ingredients to her success as a woman in business.


Alissa Fougere
Lead Artist/Co-Owner

Alissa Fougere…naturally at your service.

Growing up with a family of hairdressers, Alissa was always inspired by the beauty her family created.  Alissa began her career in the beauty industry in 2007, when she decided to follow her passion.  She completed her Cosmetology training through VIU, and then moved on to complete the 10 month training program at the prestigious and internationally acclaimed Aveda Institute Victoria.  After graduating with a double diploma, Alissa was hired on to complete another 6 months of advanced training with Aveda.

In 2011, Alissa embarked on an exciting path and became the co-owner of Kazen Hair and Beauty.  Now, after almost 9 years in the industry, Alissa is as inspired as ever.  Always upgrading her education and advancing her knowledge in all aspects of hair.

Amanda Catarino
Lead Artist/Salon Coach

Meet Amanda Catarino…naturally at your service.

Amanda began her industry career in 2009 by enrolling at the Aveda Institute Victoria.  She graduated in 2010 to embark on her journey as a hairstylist.  With many talents up her sleeve already, Amanda then went on to do some more training with Vidal Sassoon.  Amanda fell in love with the art of cutting hair, but she can do it all!

In 2012, Amanda worked with a team for the annual Show Off charity hair show in Vancouver, BC.  Following that, Amanda placed top 10 in Canada while participating with a team for the all famous Contessa Awards!

Amanda loves to teach and share her knowledge about everything hair!  She is very excited to be Kazen’s salon coach to and continue to teach her fellow team mates, and take advanced training to stay current with the latest fashion and hair trends.  After working at a L’Oreal Professional salon for 4 years, she is excited to be back to her roots working with Aveda again, and to start her new journey!

Samantha Lavoie
Salon Level Stylist/Makeup Artist

Meet Samantha Lavoie… creatively at your service.

Samantha started her journey with the beauty industry in 2014 by enrolling and completing the cosmetology program at the internationally acclaimed Aveda Institute Victoria. After completing the program she continued on into the Advanced Academy program at the Paul Da Costa Salon where her education continued.  Learning more advanced cutting and coloring techniques, her skills began to grow and shine. Before starting at the Aveda Institute, Samantha already had a passion for making things beautiful with cake decorating and a strong desire to learn more about makeup artistry. During her time at the Aveda Institute her love for makeup blossomed as well as a love for elegant up dos and specialty sets.

In 2015, Samantha joined our team at Kazen.  She has developed her skills through cutting, hair color, hair design and makeup.  While Samantha is diverse in all aspects of hair and makeup, her passion lies in the art of hair coloring.

Dayla McKee
New Talent Stylist/Makeup Artist

Dayla’s journey into the beauty industry was inspired through her passion for photography and a genuine interest in making everyone feel like their best self. After many years of developing her photography business Dayla decided to expand her horizons by enrolling in the cosmetology program at the internationally acclaimed Aveda Institute Victoria. Throughout her time of studies Dayla learned a variety of advanced cutting and coloring techniques and she continues to seek out further education in modern trends. Dayla’s passion, enthusiasm and commitment to her craft is evident in the investments she has made to her education, and in the level of care she gives to everyone who sits on her chair and who’s hair she touches. During the first half of 2017 Dayla has already completed multiple color education courses in both the Aveda and Davines brand.  She loves everything hair and has a specific fondness for balayage and men’s hair design.

Dayla first joined the Kazen team in 2016 as a volunteer.  After graduating with a diploma from the Aveda Institute Victoria, she became a full-time stylist at Kazen.
